Have A Drink On Me(Lonnie Donegan)

I have started a new part time job answering calls for the Samaritans last Monday night. It was that busy and stressful trying to help out the less fortunate that i decided to phone in sick on the Tuesday evening. The boss managed to talk me out of it!!

Fathers Day went very well last Sunday. I was showered with gifts and cards of my lovely children and i got to take my dad out for a pint. He is, as i have already said a real ale fan so the best place in Stockport is the Magnet on the main A6. It has just recently been voted Pub of the Year 2015 and is a must for all you traditional bitter lovers out there. My dad was like a kid in a sweet shop as he perused the large list of available delights. Salopian Oracle, Tiny Rebel IPA and Tickerty Brew were just 3 of them that he tried. Each one was given the thumbs up and a detailled description of taste and aroma followed by a rating out of 10. He was also very pleased with the much travelled beers i had purchased from Mobberley Brewey for him to consume at his leisure!!

My daughter Charlie rang on Monday(off my other daughters phone) to tell me that i wouldnt be getting her iPhone5 when she upgrades. I asked why and she told me it had fallen into the toilet and now wont work. What is it with people wanting to text or check their facebook whilst having a shit eh!! She did try the bag of rice theory but i am not holding out much hope!!

This Sunday i will attempt to go shopping in Manchester. I have a very special wedding coming up in 6 weeks and i still havent purchased my suit. I head there in hope that a meduim grey, 3 piece with a cadburys purple tie and hanky will be a standard issue and if so i will be spending the rest of my day off drinking under the Manchester sun. If not i will revert to plan A and hire one as not to spoil my liquid plans!!!

That Silver Haired Daddy of Mine(Gene Autry).

Well Fathers Days is nearly upon us. I managed to get my dad the six bottles of real ale from Mobberley Brewery and i hope he enjoys them at his leisure with his feet up!! The bestthing i could of bought him would of been a Thank You card. If he had worn a condom back in late December 1970 then i guess i wouldnt be here today!! To all dads everywhere i raise my glass and wish you all the very very best on our special day tomorrow..

Most Wednesdays when i have finished work i like to call at the local social club to meet up with the over 70's and catch up over a frame or two of snooker. This week was no different except it almost kicked off!! The sight of two slightly overweight pensioners locking horns and trading insults was not what i was expecting and has no place on a snooker table. The atmosphere was tainted during the rest of my stay and i think the bad blood between the two oldies could rumble on for weeks!! I will keep you posted on developments in future blogs!!

Some news on my super knee. The swelling has now gone down and i am left with a large black bruise obviously from where the needle entered. The joint itself has not felt this good for many years and if you would like visual proof of this, i can now be seen at 7.30 in the morning hopping to the newsagents on Lowfield Rd in Stockport. Why do that, you ask? Simple reason is because i can. Work on my red cape and blue silk underpants is underway and pictures will follow...

Great Balls of Fire!!!!

We go through life building relationships, not neccasarily from school mates(yes they are important though) but as we grow older certain people touch our lives and we are better for them.. I, like us all have come across these sort of friends!! Ady Pryor,Boothy,Martin Wharem,Matt Kerr,Potty and now Bally have passed away.. I have probably forgot loads of them and i am sorry!!!

Life is so very very short so please value people close to you. Little petty things can grow and fester into a lifetimes upset and worry!! Just stop and think is it really important??

I would like to share just one instance with Bally!! We spent a night in the old Angel Hotel doing what we shouldnt of been doing. Smoking weed and basically breaking most laws. Ady laughed and said we are only here once so enjoy. True words Mr P...... I remember sat laughing with them but having to retire to bed. I wish now i had stayed up a little longer to listen to the pair of them talking utter rubbish but laughing out loud and putting our lovely town to rights. Gone but never forgotten!!

This is my blog and tonight i dedicate it to Mr Neil (Bally) Ball..

Rest in Peace matey. Xxxxx

Knees Up Mother Brown

Knees Up Mother Brown..

I dont know if your all aware but my knees after going up and down ladders for the last 10 years are well and truely knackered. I recieved my first ever steroid injection in one of them last week and i am now in possession of what only can be described as a Super Knee!! It looks exactly the same as it did before(hairy and knobbly) but feels great and pain free at last!!

My work is very important and i pride myself in doing an excellent. Last week we were working for a lovely couple in Withington and with the sun on our backs we transformed their house with new fascias, soffits and gutters. They were over the moon and we left happy with our 3 days work and on to our next project. Imagine my horror when i recieveda call from them in the evening telling me none of the upstairs windows would open!! We had put the boards on a quarter of an inch to low. Now no one wants that little bald fellow Dominic Littlewood on their backs so back we went, ripped it all down and put it right!! Not the best money making job i have ever done but at least my good name is still intact..

For all of you that me well you will be aware one of my favourite pastimes is sipping a few cold ones in the local pub as often as possible. After years of running my own ale houses, a pint has become a good friend and an enjoyable way of relaxing after a days work. Today is the first ever National Beer Day so although i urge you all to stay within the weekly alcohol guildlines and always drink sensibly. Get yourselves down to your local, raise a glass and keep the British Pub open!!!! Cheers..

Sunday Bloody Sunday!

Sunday, Bloody Sunday!!

I am certainly no Enid Blyton, EL James or Dr Seuss but i hope to be able to deliver my own blog in my own style and give everyone an insight into the life of Clive!!

Sunday, the day of rest and the chance to recharge the batteries ready for a new working week. Not a chance!! Planned to go my mothers in leafy Mobberley, a small village in the heart of Cheshire. My reasons for this visit was the obvious to see my mum but also to pick up 6 bottles of the fine ale brewed at the recently opened brewery for my dad. He loves his real ales so with Fathers Day looming it was a no brainer.
After over sleeping and just managing to get to the train station on time, i was told the Chester line was closed and a bus service had been laid on. That was fine until i was informed the next bus was in 2hrs and they had no information available for the return journey back from where we were heading!!
A quick phone call to my mum and it was decided to abort my mission till another day. No beer for my dad at present and Fathers Day is only round the corner!
Due to our disappointment my good woman Carol said it was an opportunity to shop.(not my favourite pastime, especially on a Sunday)!!
We trawled Stockport and came away after a couple of hours with 2 bags of Marks and Spencers food and a new wallet for me. To most women its a job well done but to us blokes its torture and i knew exactly how to turn this day on its head!!

The Plough in Shawheath is a proper boozee with some very special characters and your always given a warm welcome but my reason for this visit was pure and simply Carling!! That cold golden liquid with frothy head served up in a branded glass is a sight to behold..
My Sunday was up and running, let the new week commence!!!
